Trams really - and all that they represent. How we once got things so right and have ever been so ready to get rid of good things for no good reason or any great improvement. That's what I have tried to do through my work, campaigning and writing - to hold up a mirror and say: 'Look - can't you see the value of this and how stupid it is to lose it?' Some you win... but what the heck! These are reflected in the videos I post here. You will also see music I video on my Local Music Hour show on Black Country Radio each Sunday between 15:00 and 16:00. There is so much talent in and around the Black Country - let's celebrate it!

Nice video, what beautiful sounds!
Such a good song. Stuck with me from the very first time I heard it. Really talented guy 👌
i like all old British made vehicles ✌️✌️🇬🇧🇬🇧🚐🚐
The car has two floors and the design is very stylish. Although it is not as stylish, there is a similar vehicle in my country. I have attached the URL for reference. Wie heisst die Ortschaft wo die trams fahren ? Besten Dank
Diese Straßenbahn befindet sich im National Tramway Museum in Crich in Derbyshire. Es lief ursprünglich in Liverpool - I hope Google translated that OK?
@@DrPaulCollins thank you very much, Google has good transleded
Tom from Hungary ❤🤍💚👍👍👍
Good Train Service.
Beautiful ❤️
I would love to live there dple life
I can live there simple life
😮😮😮
Cute piece of machinery
Been there, helped with track laying when I was very young.
You lads sounds really good, love the sound 👍 gotta support my cov folks 😉
Wish they mic'ed the guitar
Nice version Madi :-)
These are very talented young lads. Had them play at the pub me and my partner was running last year for a birthday party. They were a total hit! Hope they get loads of support. Wish them all the best.
So talented 👏
The concept is sound but why limit it to a single vehicle with large cabs taking up space at both ends? Why not just build a conventional several-segment tram-like vehicle instead of a glorified pod?
>glorified pod It's called "railcar" and it's a pretty common thing across railroad systems.
Not allowed to distract the driver. No cab separating driver from the rest of the tram.
Nice high definition video! Could not video forward?
❤❤❤❤ so proud 👏 x x
So good to hear you bravely sharing your brilliant lyrics on the radio again! I feel sure you have found empathy in so many who listened live last weekend and hopefully word will spread about wielding personal power, as you have done, over that wicked Shadow Puppeteer. Your music will always triumph, Sam, and Ardleen youth will remember its spell from their primary school years! ❤
I assumed they were using that route for the metro extension 😮. It looks like an old Midland Metro inside the building too?
I've been through that tunnel on a specially chartered DMU when I lived at Brierly Hill. Never realised it was so long.
I went through on a diversion in the 70s. Surprises me how long it is when I go through on the VLR. The visibility is much better, too, both from the vehicle and because the tunnel is now lit!
Fucking classic 😂😂😂
filmed at the old dudley station bottom of castle hill, plus dudley tunnel, used to be able to walk the tunnel now closed off
For me im going to get to see the track being instslled as I drive buses in and out of Coventry. First its going to be city centre to the station, then to Walsgrave Hospital via Ball Hill and then to Anstey Park via Binley where it will link up with the Walsgrave section, then I think theres a Tile Hill bit too. I am looking forward to seeing it for myself.
There were, trolley cars, invented by Mr. Robinson, that were three axle cars, that had independent wheels on the center axle! They were operated in Amsterdam, among other places! So the basic idea isn't new,and there are cars operated in Boston[US],that have their center body on 4 independent axles! Initially, there were troubles with derailments, but those bugs got ironed out! Anyway, hopefully the data, might be of use!! Thank you 😇😊!
Interesting. The same capacity as a single decker bus.
Legend ...!
They have a previous generation of VLR I see, the Parry People Mover.
Got to love the battered Class 08
With a turning circle so small you could have them single cab to increase passenger numbers.
Why is the speed in km/h has nobody told the manufacturer that we are mph over here?
Overseas sales.
Tyne and Wear Metro is km/h
Most UK tram systems use km/h to some degree or another.
@@keirapoppins2514might be a nightmare on road sections as 48km/h is 30 mph. A double speedo might be the best option in the UK
As Tramway Speed Limit signs are a diamond shape rather than circular, there's no risk of them being misinterpreted as Road Vehicle Speed Limits - all UK tramways already use the signs, including on shared alignments And, as per DfT regulation, the speeds are shown in kph (except Manchester & Sheffield): uktram.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/TGN32-Signing_of_Tramways_2.pdf
So VLR = Virtually Lacking Realism, otherwise, longest shunt i've ever seen. Absolutely nothing like my train driving years for BR.
for me this is showing the success of are brexit .
What?!?

High res video of backwards rides (argh!!!) so we saw the track and surroundings but not the train itself.
Coventry City Council have released a UA-cam video called "Our VLR vehicle takes to the tracks" which shows the actual railcar
Good acceleration!
I feel like this could be a new vehicle for the stourbridge shuttle if they make a high floor version
It looked like a Stourbridge vehicle parked alongside the track
It is, battery powered
Interesting concept, sounds electric
I understand there is a suggestion that freight might return to this line - would that only be possible once the VLR people have finished their splendid development work?
I think there is a capacity for a separate line. The VLR Centre is there for the long term
The plan is to future proof the whole line from Wednesbury to Brierley Hill for possible return of freight which is why the VLR track is laid to one side to allow single line freight to resume. I have no idea how that will work on the part of the line which will be used for the West Midlands Metro.
Tyne & Wear Metro shared tracks with BR as I recall. Not sure if it still does though. But that means there's a precedent.
Impressive acceleration. I did not hear any flange squeal on the 15m radius loop. Are the wheels on each axle free turning rather than solidly fixed? The concept looks very good and will hopefully be a commercial success, provided that the design is not compromised by too many "expert" committees.
I'm not sure about the wheels, but I can ask. Yes, the acceleration is phenomenal!
I'm surprised more development of independently suspended wheels hasn't been done. It should certainly have helped reduce the noise of the pacers around tight curves
@@Grid56I think that Talgo use them on their gauge changing trains and possibly other manufacturers of such trains possibly do, but I haven't heard of any tram manufacturers using them. Anything to reduce flange squeal!
Vancouver's skytrain runs on articulated bogies
Vienna's ultra low floor trams use freewheels too, talgo style
'Promo sm' ☝️
It was my pleasure
Thank you for having us! Was an honour!
Bloody Police in BMW’s
Sounds like the dulcet tones of Conductor Andy in the background! Almost as intrusive as asking if you want vanilla on top!
Cranks and pistons shining which shows the care these engines are looked after even at 76 years old!
The precision Engineering of that Engine. Is what made Britain great.🏴🇬🇧
